Coal & Solar (Hybrid) Power Generation

The Wovwe hybrid (Coal & Solar) Power Plant – Project Development With the support of its development financing and equity partners, AEP is in the process of setting up a 50 Megawatt Hybrid (low-emission Coal & Solar) Power Plant in Wovwe Karonga district

The project is currently awaiting regulatory approvals from the Malawi government. Once operational, the project is set to boost Malawi’s power grid by 50 Megawatt of baseload power and maximum of 100 Megawatt (peak) power through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to be concluded with ESCOM/Power Market Limited.
